I confess I did watch it a bit because I wanted to see what was so new about the concept. Nothing. In fact I switched channels to watch a documentary on the Iditarod dog sled race, which was more interesting than this.
What is terrible about this pageant in some categories the mothers where competing directly with their daughters for the big title. That is absolutely ridiculous that you have grown women prancing around on a stage in a swimsuit that is too small competing against her daughter.
Fake tanning their children - Helloooo - you are spraying your kid with chemicals. IMHO I don't see anything that would build self esteem in a kid. You have a pushy competitive parent who is driving this whole thing. People who are spending money they may not have.
I think it also cements in the heads of children that only beautiful people are successful and it is your looks you get by on and not how hard you work or by educating yourself.
IMHO I think the day of the beauty pageant is done. We are an enlightened society and when you ask a contestant what their vision is for the future they all say varying phrases "World Peace" with a big cheesy grin and sometimes a crocodile tear escaping. Give me a break.
You want your child to have self esteem and confidence, try enrolling them in toastmasters. Get them to do volunteer work. Get them interested in sports. Better yet as a parent tell them how great they are and give them the tools to succeed through education and being there for them.

I didnt read this article but toddlers in tiaras is discusting. I feel so bad for the poor children on here this show shouldnt even be allowed. You know, even though pedofiles and abusers do really bad things I still feel sorry for them because most of them suffered some kind of trauma or abuse when they were children. But the parents of these toddlers are the most selfish, unloving, forceful, emotional abusers and the worst parents I have ever seen. Like I said pedofiles and abusers do the things they do for a reason and although its horrible I still dont hold grudges against them. Parents of these toddlers should have there kids taken away and be locked up for the horrific psychological abuse they put there kids through. Your kids are always fighting you and screaming and crying but u dont give a shit all you care about is your own fame and lots of money.
